In mid-October, Lucy was joined in Brussels by 15 apprentices from the East of England. They were given a glimpse into the day-to-day running of the European Parliament, considering the role, history and structure of the European Union. The apprentices were introduced to other MEPs and civil servants who outlined the challenges they face in their various roles, stressing the importance of long-term, strategic partnerships within Europe.
The group also enjoyed immersing themselves in European culture, frequenting local bars with EU locals and navigating the metro system...! The trip seems to have been a great success, with apprentices reporting that they walked away with a greater appreciation of what the EU has to offer and what it aims to achieve. Many thanks to Aidan for everything he did to organise this trip!
